5. Purpose and legal basis for processing personal data

Processing of information applications for right-of-occupancy homes and selecting residents.

The processing of personal data is based on the Act on Right-of-Occupancy Housing (393/2021) or the legitimate interests of Varsinais-Suomen Asumisoikeus Oy (Vaso) or the applicant.

8. Regular data sources

Declarations by applicants for right-of-occupancy homes. Vaso may also supplement the information during discussions with an applicant. When an offer is sent to an applicant, further information is requested on the people also moving in to the home and their assets.

The personal data is not used for automated decision-making or profiling

11. Recipients of personal data

The Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland (ARA) and municipalities act as supervisory authorities entitled to receive the information they need for supervision.

Not transferred.

13. Data retention period

Applications are retained for six (6) years from the date when the customer last submitted an application unless the customer makes a right-of-occupancy agreement.

14. Rights of data subjects

Varsinais-Suomen Asumisoikeus Oy’s priority is to ensure its ability to maintain and verify the reliability and credibility of its systems and personal data files. All processing of personal data complies with data protection legislation. The key items of legislation governing personal data files and the processing of personal data are the Data Protection Act (1050/2018) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, 679/2016).

Data subjects are entitled to:

  • learn about the processing of their personal data
  • access data
  • rectify data
  • erase data and be forgotten
  • restrict data processing
  • transfer data from one system to another
  • object to the processing of data and not to be subject to automated decision-making
